You know most people when they describe rap music or hip hop as a style of flashy cars, jewelry, strippers, and not really being music but more of an elaborate marketing scheme for big businesses. When this style is so far from what the culture of hip hop has always been, and that is a driving force to tackle the biggest problems in our society but also to provide resignation with fans and bring the politics of the big cities to the masses of the underprivileged and impoverished youth all over the world. It sometimes takes years but there is a new sensation in Detroit that I feel is not getting the proper attention and his name is Dusty Mcfly. Mcfly started as a rapper on myspace.com and youtube.com, but has recently moved into the mixtape world of hip hop and is rising pretty quickly. This is very surprising to me considering rappers of this type who I am interested in hearing and come from the type of emvirment he comes from usually do not even crack into the hip hop industry. But to understand what surprises me so much about this artist you have to know what I mean by the “emvirment” this guy grew up in. if any of you have been to the city of Detroit or have heard anything about Detroit you have all no doubt heard the same old story of Detroit being a bad or dangerous city filled with break down decay and crime. Too a point this is true but what no one considers is there are not only great things here but also great things that can come out of all this adversity. One of the more common things that happen to come out of adversity is music and Mcflys music is no different. Even at a glance without even listening to this man’s music you can tell a lot about his music particularly when looking at his camp and who he has behind him that being Dirty Glove Entertainment. If you don’t know Dirty Glove Entertainment they are the monster underground company that have the front runners and former street lord mafia artists k deezy, Juan, and the potential signing of big herk and his camp rock bottom. They are also a street savvy group which gives Mcfly his all-important street credibility with Dirty Gloves roots in big meechs bmf. Besides this to help his mainstream audience see what he’s all about 2 blazing hot new singles don’t hurt. These singles being “I’m out here”, and “Buffies&Benihanas”. More recently though I got my first chance to see him perform live and I have seen a lot of hip hop concerts such as jay z, Eminem, lil Wayne, trick trick, spice 1, and bun b. But never have I seen an up and coming artist captivate a crowd of first time listeners in a way were the crowd immediately took to his music even singing along and fist pumping to the beat of the song.
